You did it! You made it a whole week of prioritizing God and going all in. If you missed a day or two, it’s okay! You can check those out later, but let’s talk about moving forward.

Luke 5:15-16 NIV

15 Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

Mark 1:35 NIV

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.

Jesus often withdrew to lonely places to spend time with the Father. This wasn’t a chore or a checkbox He needed to accomplish before He could start multiplying fish and healing the lame. It was a great joy from which Jesus drew strength.

It wasn’t just a single time we see Jesus retreat to be alone with God; we see a pattern of it in the gospels, up until the moment before He went to the cross.

Here’s a question for you: How would the next six months look differently if you emulated Jesus and started with Jesus first every day?

How would your attitude change?

What about your relationship with your spouse and kids?

How would your sense of fulfillment alter?

How would you approach each day in your career or station of life differently, knowing God is on your side and is there to help you lead and make crucial decisions?

How much more joy, peace, and patience would you have to live each day to the fullest?

The Joy of Being with Jesus

Psalm 16:11 NIV

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Spending time with God doesn’t have to be a chore; quite the opposite, it can be the part of your day that most excites you and makes you feel most fulfilled.

When you approach spending time with a loving God who wants you to know Him more and allow yourself to be known, you will see the time as the greatest gift and privilege you have ever received.

The Compounding Effect

Similar to compounding interest, which grows funds over time, there is a compounding effect that comes from spending time with God. A deep well that is dug and can be pulled from.

You may not need to draw from it today, but when faced with a crisis or decision you're unsure about, you have a deep well that not only blesses you but those around you.

Read Psalm 100.

Thank God for giving you His presence. Spend some time in worship and gratitude. Thank Him for His faithfulness and love towards you.

Psalm 100 NIV

1  Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.

2   Worship the Lord with gladness;
    come before him with joyful songs.

3  Know that the Lord is God.
    It is he who made us, and we are his;
    we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
    and his courts with praise;
    give thanks to him and praise his name.

5  For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
    his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Now, moving forward, set a time to map out your plan to put Jesus first every day. Whether that’s a morning calendar invite or a block in your daily schedule, find a place and time to be with Jesus.

Don’t overcomplicate it. God wants to meet with you throughout the day, in your routines, work, and even in the mundane.

Start digging your well, and watch your life change.
